Spring is just around the corner!

Updated: Nov 10

Getting Ready For Spring

While we may have just gotten through the biggest storm of the season, spring is still just around the corner! Our spring/summer work list is in full effect and filling up fast!

If you are interested in having your deck or other outdoor project added to our spring/summer list, OR if you are currently on our list but would like to hold off on your project and remove yourself from our list, please reach out to Nicole via email office@thetahoetradesman.com or text message (530-240-4140).

Spring Damage Prevention

Remember, snow loads can cause damage! Shoveling is one of the most cost-effective preventive maintenance measures you can take. Not only does it save your finish and help prevent rot by removing the constant moisture from your deck, but it can save your railings. As the snow melts it does not necessarily do so evenly. Approximately 75% of the railing damage that occurred last year happened after the last snowfall as the snow was melting out!

As the snow loads recede keep an eye out for signs of rot exposed by the snow loads. Increased weight can cause rot to fail at the ends/seams on beams and joists. Click here for an example of what to look for.

With temperatures rising, roofs will continue to shed their accumulated snow. This is not only a risk for children and animals playing, but is also a risk for your windows! If you have already suffered a broken window, reach out ASAP so we can get a replacement ordered and ready to install when the snow levels drop.

Alternatively, if you had a close call this year, every fall we install clear polycarbonate window covers. These covers allow full light while the snow levels are still low and full protection when the snow starts to build and roofs start to shed.

WE ARE HIRING!

Do you know someone who is looking for seasonal(May through September/October) and possibly full-time employment with a background in construction or remodel contacting?
