Truckee Bathroom Addition/Remodel

Project Overview

The project began with the full demolition of two existing bathrooms to allow for new layouts, plumbing updates, and structural adjustments. One bathtub was removed and replaced with a walk-in shower, while the second bathroom received a new acrylic alcove tub with updated tile surrounds and custom glass.

To improve storage and functionality, a hallway linen closet was removed and incorporated into the adjacent bathroom layout, allowing space for the new bathroom vanity and additional storage. The remodel also included new tile flooring, updated fixtures, and modern lighting throughout both bathrooms.

A third bathroom was created by converting an unused hallway closet into a compact new bathroom. This required installing entirely new plumbing lines and venting, along with framing new walls to properly define the space.

Throughout the project, careful attention was given to integrating the new finishes with the cabin’s existing architecture. Sloped ceilings, exposed log walls, and wood ceiling elements were incorporated into the design, along with modern tilework, updated fixtures, and improved lighting.

The result is a set of three highly functional bathrooms that provide modern comfort while maintaining the home's rustic character.

Challenges & Solutions

This project required several structural and layout challenges to be addressed during construction:

  • Integrating modern bathrooms into an existing log cabin structure

  • Working within sloped ceilings and irregular framing

  • Installing new plumbing and venting for the added bathroom

  • Reconfiguring layouts by removing a hallway linen closet to improve bathroom storage

  • Constructing a new bathroom within a previously unused closet space

  • Coordinating design and construction within tight bathroom footprints

Despite these constraints, the final design successfully transformed three small, outdated spaces into modern, functional bathrooms that better support the homeowners’ lifestyle.
